Sarah Jaffe releases her cover of WIllie Nelson’s “Angel Flying To Close To The Ground” today. The track is part of the compilation Texas Wild celebrating 100 years of state parks and features Lone Star state musicians covering fellow Texan’s songs. The compilation also features Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada, Shane Smith and The Saints ft. Hayes Carll, Shakey Graves, Paul Wall, and Ray Wylie Hubbard. Ryan Bingham covers Toadies while Toadies cover Kelly Clarkson.

Today Generationals, the New Orleans duo of Grant Widmer and Ted Joyner, share new track/video “Trying to Reach Ya,” which features vocals from Sarah Jaffe. “Tryin to Reach Ya” is the second single from Generationals forthcoming EP ILEANA, out November 5th via Polyvinyl Record Co.
“Trying to Reach Ya” marks a rarity in Generationals’ catalog, one of the few times the band has expanded outside of being simply a duo. Of today’s release, Joyner says: “As Generationals we have very rarely co-written with other people. We didn’t really know what to expect going into it; but, the song that came out of that collaboration really felt like something special.”
